Yes, 13'6" in high school that is true. 15'6 first year in college, 17'3" the next year, and 17'5 the year after that. I ended up jumping 18' the next year, then 18'4 for my final red-shirt year. A long road, but it paid off. I really just tried to get better at everything instead of just vaulting. Every year I ran a little bit faster, lifted a little more weight, was more aware in the gymnastics room, threw the med ball farther, and did a few more drills. It never mattered that I was doing everything perfect, just better. And nothing takes the place of 14 years of getting a little better in everything!

Wow - Tim might have the greatest differential between his high school PR and his lifetime PR of all the elite vaulters - more than 6 feet - even if it took more than 14 years to get there!! Perseverance pays off!

Wow thats some improvement! It gives us average vaulters a little bit of hope, something to work for.

Are you going to compete at Reno next month?
Good Luck with your season

reno

yes, I will be at reno. I will be trying to jump as high as I can! Of course, it will be early. The way I design the program, it is difficult to set pb's in January, but, I have vaulted from 5 strides and technically those jumps are better than ever! I usually come off the top of the pole sideways, but I think I have it figured out. It will take time to become automatic, but, everything takes time and a bit of patience!!! I gotta say that I feel ahead of where I was last year at this time!

I love you Tim mack, good luck at Reno, too bad you can't come over to jump at Jan's camp in Maine South in February, we'd love to see you jump.
