I ended up jumping 18' the next year, then 18'4 for my final red-shirt year. A long road, but it paid off. I really just tried to get better at everything instead of just vaulting. Every year I ran a little bit faster, lifted a little more weight, was more aware in the gymnastics room, threw the med ball farther, and did a few more drills. It never mattered that I was doing everything perfect, just better. And nothing takes the place of 14 years of getting a little better in everything!
Wow thats some improvement! It gives us average vaulters a little bit of hope, something to work for.
Are you going to compete at Reno next month?
Good Luck with your season
