Michael Woepse won at 15'

Quite a good mark for a sophomore. He had 2 good attempts at 15-6 too

15'6" attempts

He blew through on the first attempt then pulled out a brand new big pole and went for it. He will be over 16' soon.

He's overstriding badly, getting his hips sucked right out from underneath him at takeoff, blocking hard on the left arm, and killing pole speed, yet he still cleared 15'. If he learns how to run and takeoff he'll probably go 5m this year.

He needs to read this thread: http://polevaultpower.com/forum/viewtop ... ride+chart

He jumps off the ground with more impulse, angle, and gets that trail leg back and he definitely jumps as high as he wants this year. Good jumping still! congrats

the kid is a beast.....and only a sophmore!!! also when the bar got to 14'0" mater dei had 3 vaulters alive and none of them are seniors.
one of the great parts of theis forum is we are never satisfied with how we did, it always can be better...here is a great example, mike jumps 3 or 4 times in the past 3 months and come out of the box and clears 15 easy and we all break it down and say what he is doing wrong...me included, but he broke out a 15'6" pole and had 2 good efforts over 15'6" and if standards were placed (guessed) better he probably would have cleared it.
It was great seeing the turnout of vaulters on saturday....see y'all in reno

Cant wait to see him jump again this year!

With a pit and runway in his backyard and his dad as the coach, I would guess he has jumped quite a bit more than 3-4 times in 3 months.

Time to put the Orange County record over 17 feet.
