I won and that is the most important. I love the Japanese crowd they are fantastic. The only small disappointment is that I did not jump the world record. I wanted to show everybody something special. I want to thank my coach and my family who supported me and believed that I can win again after Helsinki. What was missing to the world record? Maybe some small technical issues, but mainly my concentration. I waited too long between the attempts. But not the last one, I asked to do it after victory ceremony. Maybe if some of the girls would jump 4.80 I would feel more pressure and jump higher. I still have six competitions left and I hope I can break the record.

although isi didn't break the WR, she sure did look good today. Her 4.80m clearance was pretty huge and i felt like her world record attempts were ok especially her third. She might have gone up a pole or something for the third because she looked a bit surprised through the swing that she was penetrating well enough, and cut her swing a bit. If she had finished her swing in true isi-like form, she would have smoked it. Most importantly her run looks amazin and i think she's getting on bigger poles now (?). 5.10 should be manageable in the next year, not that we'll see it go down unless she breaks the WR 9 more times between now and then.

She definitely did not Volz the bar. On the side they showed, the bar was still on the peg, though it had flipped over to the round side.

I didn't think that was a miss??

I believe that is a miss by IAAF rules. That is why they require a bar with only one flat side on the ends, so they can tell if it has flipped over.

It's still not clear to me what exactly happened. Did the bar end up on top of the standard? An obvious foul. Or, did the bar dislodge, touch the top of the standard, and fall back on the pegs? I don't know if the rule addresses that and I have a hard time with an official having to interpret a rule against an athlete.

I must admit I was havin' a bit of a doubt when she blew her first attempt.

Her last jump was ugly, I would be surprised if she makes a new WR if she goes straight there.

She was WAY over the bar. I bet she felt EXACTLY as she said her new technique make her feel when she executes correctly. Like FLYING.....

I'm pretty sure, that this attempt would have cleared the 5.02 attempt....
