Advil = disqualification??
Advil = disqualification??
Alright, so I was asking my parents for some Advil so that my leg won’t hurt as much, and they told me that using chemicals to enhance your performance at a meet will result in a disqualification. I guess if my leg was hurting, and I used Advil it will enhance my ability. So I was wondering, is this true?[/quote]

Only banned substances would get you in trouble, and only if you were in a situation where you would be drug tested, either as an NCAA athlete, or a top USATF junior or senior athlete.
So feel free to take over the counter pain medications, just be careful. I messed up my stomach from taking too much ibuprofen: http://www.polevaultpower.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46

There is a difference between over the counter anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen and prescription pain meds. Your buddy probably took something with some sort of narcotics in it which is a banned substance.
It's not even an issue for your buddy unless he is in USADA's pool or wins nationals or something where he gets tested.
Ibuprofen is legal for everyone, even Olympic athletes.
You guys should play this game and learn more: http://www.usantidoping.org/athletes/game.html
well i figured i wouldn't get disqualifide unless they tested me, witch i dont think is going to happen, I just herd that in football, people were using pain killers so they could play without getting hurt, they were pretty much running with broken bones and what not, I guess they band them because of situations like this (says my dad =P) so I was j/w… and i dont want to be kicke out of a meet if they see me taking some advil

Friday night candy the best thing for a football game, also this horse tranquilizer spray stuff...cant feel anything, Advil isn't strong enough, my friend played w/ a torn acl like 2 plays after it happened his leg was just flopping around and he couldn't feel anything he said, but thats what steroids will do to you, weaken your ligaments
