Newport Harbor High pole vaulter Allison Stokke has been drawing attention ever since she won the state championship as a freshman with a clearance of 12 feet, 8 inches.

It's so sad how out of hand this stuff has gotten! I'm amazed by how positive (considering the situations being discussed) her parents are!
Good article though. People need to consider the fact that she is a high school girls with a life and feelings.

Theres absolutely no for any of these pictures or comments. Anyone who takes pictures of someone without their knowledge and puts them on the internet is sleeze as far as im concerned. I just feel bad, because if i broke national records and people liked the way i looked (dont gotta worry about that part tho!), i would hate for them to take the emphasis off of my athletic accomplishments and make it completely materialistic and disgusting. My best wishes to Allison and her family, I hope things settle down for you soon. If not, just recruit all the vaulters on here as your bodygaurds at all the meets :P.

That's what our world has come to. But seriously people should really get a life and not attack a innocent high school girl. sorry to hear about this

This is very sad to hear. Especially considering that Allison is one of the nicest vaulters I have met. The way she handles this speaks volumes about her character.

I just wish she could just focus on her vaulting and not all of this garbage.

That an excellent article. I think the more people are aware of how terrible it is, the faster it will die down. Its a temporary infatuation that should die down as soon as she goes to college, hopefully. There are plenty of cute girl vaulters in college, she should blend right in, except for the fact that shes jumping higher than the majority of them already :P.

On a side note, she runs from 100 feet? Thats a pretty long run for most high school girls! good luck in the future.

i hope that every can see when she vaults that her hard work and dedication is shown to motivate other people to try hard and do well. her talent should not degraded in such a disgusting way! Since her freshman year she has been nothing short of amazing, and i would hope that is what people see and not just pictures that are obsessed over!

Perhaps this can be a wake up call for everyone and we can put an end to posts that appear to be only about how "hot" some young lady is. Just to remind people, this was posted on Feb 27.
