Swing up?
Hey, im new to the forums and am a 1st year vaulter . My PR is only 8 feet . My coach says that my plant and how i get off the ground are ok, i just need to work on going vertical once im in the air. Is there anything i can do to help me practice that?

Dont think about inverting....think about getting your left hip to the pole to start. When doing that make sure your right knee stays forward and stuck in that position through out the swing drill. We'll chat more after you get to that position.

A pop-up is a basic warm-up version of polevaulting. It's very minaturized. Anyway, you've probably done a bunch of them without knowing the terminology. It's done by going through the motions of a vault without holding very high. Generally the vaulter doesn't have a specified step when doing this. It's just a customary drill to get a feel for the box at the beginning of a competition or at the beginning of vault practice. Hope that helps.

um, if you have a clambing rope, you can hold it like a pole, and work on lifting your legs up to the rope,
