Did Pole Vaulting come easy to you?

Yes, it came comparatively easy to me. I taught myself with a willow stick when I was 8 years old and gradually progressed from knee-high to where I am at 40 years later. Things like skin-the-cat on a bar or inverting on a rope seem as natural as walking to me, and it amazes me how much trouble some people have in performing such tasks. On reflection, it probably didn't come easy to me at first either.

Being uncoached, I learned a lot of things wrong that I am struggling to correct before I get too old to continue.

I startd with a friend of mine and 3 weeks in he was clearing 10' and I had not cleared a hight yet. I was kind of mad about that, but I was happy that he cleared because he was after all my friend. Now hes going 11'6" and im going 9'6". And I have to work twice as hard as he does.

vaulting came easily to me. I worked hard of corse, but as compared to my team mates in high school, I was always better and put in the same ammount of effort as they did.
