Did Pole Vaulting come easy to you?
Did pole vaulting come easy to you. For me its a no. I have to work very hard to achieve very little results. With some people they don't even know what the sport is called and they can jump 9'6" after only a week of practice. It just bugs me when they don't have to work hard and they go higher than me.

Heavens no. Ask VTechvaulter... I think I was given about as much natural talent as was in LoJo's little toe.
Most of where I am has come from hard work and a focus on technique, because I was not blessed with speed, size or explosiveness. I am proud of what I have done with what I am given.
However, that is not to say I am satisfied. I have a bunch more left in the tank and am ready to shift to a higher gear any day here...

First year I pole vaulted I made 7'3"
Two years later made 10' once all seaon (Freshman High School)
Ended up with 5m at Conference Senior year...
5.10 PR Soph. Year of College...
Had to work for every centimeter of it and still trying to rise to higher heights...

There was a kid from a local high school, who jumped 11' the first season he vaulted. People thought he would be the greatest vaulter by the time he was a Senior. 4 Years later his PR was 11' 9''. One of my good friends jumped around 8' his first season worked his butt off and is now jumping 14 9 in college and running 49s in the 400. Its all about how much effort you put into it.
