Starting My First Pole Vault Lesson Monday, HELP!
Hi, i'm kinda new around here but found this site and really like it so i figured everyone could help me with something.
I am starting my first lesson in Pole vaulting Monday (17th) and i was just wondering what is the single best piece of advice you could give to a newcomer about anything pole vaulting. I really dont know much about any of it except for you have to get over the bar and that it takes alot of strength.
Any tips/help would be extremely appreciated and Thanks!

never let go of the pole right away when you get into trouble, you'll never land in the box, and the runway is prob a better landing mat then your broken foot in the box.
But just listen to your coach, committ, and you'll experience this amazing sport. Good Luck, and you came to the right place to ask questions, Becca is AMAZING!!

Advice
A couple if definate tips I have are first, Don't be scared, because fear is your worst enemy in the vault. Second, NEVER move up your grip unless your coach tells you so, and pay attention to where you are holding. Hold in the same spot on each jump unless instructed to move it. Lastly, the pole is your life, treat it that way! Good Luck!!! And Have Fun!!!

mine is dont let go of the pole
but you have to at some point dont you?
Well, when you are going over a bar, you will let go of the pole after you are over it, but when you are just starting you won't be going over a bar, so just hang on to the pole no matter what.
