good morning
rusty and i will have a all day camp on April 1.. in columbia, SC... fly in, drive in, walk in, or crawl in...
if you want to hear the "skinny" of how to plant and take off.. why what tim is saying is true and what allan is saying is true... be there..
i think i have heard it explained by every vault coach "guru" since 1969.. plus from dozens of "fiberglass" pole vaulters that start with ron morris and john pennel and includes earl, dave roberts, bob segrin................on and on..
i remember most of it... and if we can find the hours ....
the camp is on sunday.. if you want to talk all day saturday i'll be there early... and we will have an all day BS session... our own little "summit"
be there or be square!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SC clinic
Dj and I have had many lengthy discussions regarding the importance of the approach, posture during the approach, and advanced run mechanics. I truely believe that if you (and especially your coach) have any questions about getting your steps correct, your run mechanics correct, and your pole descent correct to enable the best possible plant and take off you should DEFFINITELY attend this camp!!!!

There will also be a meet going on Saturday at USC (the day before the clinic). There should be some fairly decent vaulting, I believe VaTech is coming down, at least I saw us on there schedule a while back, maybe Brian as well? So not only could you get a chance to chat with DJ, you can watch some great jumping as well.
Don't miss this opportunity, you can really learn a great deal from DJ and the staff here at USC and have a great time while doing it.

This will be a great camp, plus there is a meet the day before. It will be very informative, with great information from experts with many years of experience. The facility at University of South Carolina is fabulous.

I would love to attend the meet and the clinic
I am a coach from Michigan and would love to attend both the meet and the clinic. Is there any cost for coaches at the clinic? I'll be in Myrtle Beach, but would love to drive over. My email is kpatter341@aol.com
Thanks!

Great Camp!....
Rusty and DJ,
Very nice camp. I enjoyed watching you guys in action. Your facilities were very nice, and the atmosphere was relaxed. DJ is an animal for technique on the pole run. I'll take a few things back with me on that. Thanks again for letting me observe!

good morning
i really don't know if we can do it any better than we did it sunday..
i know we had.. maybe.. 4 vaulters out of 30 that didn't get it... and i'm sure they left not feeling very good... i apologize for not having enough time and sessions to get those correct...
rusty and i were extremely pleased... when we came from the track to the pit.. we simply ran most of the runs back from a 6 step/3 left "MID" to a 6/7 left approach.. 90% of the jumpers took off their first time down the runway and had only minor adjustments, in or out, for 2 jumps... then they were "on" and jumping and working on vaulting technique...
i had a blast... my butt was dragging by the end of the day though..
i'm looking forward to the next one..............
