Status of Entries at Nationals

Unread postby Bubba PV » Wed Jan 31, 2007 9:25 pm

OK, this is funny to me but maybe not to others. I like to know who's going to the big meets so I always check the Status of Entries at all of the National Meets whether it’s Juniors, Elites or Masters. SO, check out how few people have entered the Elite Nationals and it’s only four weeks away. http://www.usatf.org/events/2007/USAInd ... status.asp Entries are sparse EXCEPT for the two Masters events and we're paying our own way.

On the other hand, the Status of Entries for the Masters Nationals in Boston is about eight weeks away and we’re already getting entered. http://www.usatf.org/events/2007/USAMas ... status.asp WE MUST LIVE FOR THIS!! That can’t be all bad either. Have fun. Bubba

Most masters meets have ridiculously early deadlines, so I think most masters are used to entering early.

You're very correct Becca, which brings up another fun point - we don't know until very close to the meet if we will be healthy (or alive) or not. LOL!! No kidding, when I talk to most masters vaulters they like to enter at the last possible second to make sure they are not injured, and sometimes that even backfires.

My philosophy is that if I've bought my airline ticket, I'm entering the meet. I got a nonstop ticket from Houston to Boston for $238 each for me and my wife, Nancy, so I was pumped. Of course two days later I got a light hamstring strain and she got called to cover for a staff member at a board meeting that she can’t miss. HeeHee!! Bubba

Entries close 3/12 without penalty and 3/20 with a late fee. No entries after 3/20. http://www.usatf.org/events/2007/USAMas ... ips/entry/ Bubba
