Letting go of the pole can be very dangerous. Last year at one of my meets it was drizzling and getting pretty wet. I jumped and my hands slipped off of the pole when it was bent...and it recoiled right into my groin. I even had to get professional attention because of it. I won't go into detail, but it involved bruising of delicate parts. I am scared to jump in the rain now.
Mighty Mouse: That is actually an opera. It is a really good one too. I am pretty sure that the composer is Carl Orff, and the name of the opera is Carmina Burana. The song has a good tune...kinda like Lord of The Rings. I used it in one of my videos at a really intense scene.

That is so wierd...because the same thing just happened to me this past weekend.
I was on a very stiff pole and my plant wasn't straight on, after I began to swing I decided to abort the jump...somehow my bottom hand slipped off the pole and the 15' 170lb spirit recoiled on my....my...in between my legs! It hit me so hard it rotated my whole body, so that I was going face first into the pit.
Anyways I am fully recovered...I will try to get the video on here sometime soon.
