Before we saddle Skipper with the responsibility of being the first guy over 6.20m, lets take a look at history......

The World Junior record is 5.80m.(19'.25") Maksim Tarasov :eek:

. The American Junior Record is 5.70m (18'8.xx") Lawrence Johnson...are either of these next on Skippers list?

The collegiate guys had better jumping conditions Saturday than Tommy did on Sunday. The wind cooperated much less on Sunday.

I am pretty sure that the GWI was not at the same facility as the NCAA. Typically they have GWI at the same venue, and it normally is not at the venue we jumped at. Winds there are HORRIBLE.

I think he won the Oregon state meet this year with a 10.84 or 10.88 FAT. Hes also run under 22.

Both this year and last year they had GWI at Sac State. I was there for it this year and took a couple NCAA championship banners

. Yea...from what i heard everyone saying who'd been there for both NCAA's and GWI, the winds were MUCH worse for GWI on tommy's NR jump. I do not exaggerate when i say 15 mph direct crosswind.

Since I was there for both the several days of the NCAA meet and for the GWI (helped vaultguru with the banner), I can affirm that they were both at Sac State. The winds were worse for the GWI than the NCAA. Moreover, they used the near runway (for both competitions), so the athletes didn't get the full benefit of the downhill resulting from the crown of the field.

I LOVE a good crown just as much as the next vaulter but.........2 national records were set at this facility so dont give any more info than is needed.

Stop telling on yourselves...................this is out of the 2003 NCAA rulebook under the "construction of track" section.

ARTICLE 1. The construction of track and field areas shall follow the
International Amateur Athletic Federation rules with respect to grade or
slope: Ã¢â‚¬Å“The maximum inclination permitted for tracks, runways, circles,
and landing areas for throwing events shall not exceed 1:100 in a lateral
direction and 1:1000 in the running or throwing direction.Ã¢â‚¬Â
