For all you pre-fiberglass masters!!!!!
Well I'm trying to make a transition to a flexible pole and my old "stiff Pole" habits seem to carry over.....my grip is comfortable at 11-8, I'm finally grasping the mid mark and take off point OK and I can keep my hands from sliding and keep them at shoulder width...... everytime I raise my grip I bailout or it seems my timing is off..... when at 11-8 my pole speed is comfortable so "ONCE" in a while I can get vertical and come off the top, usually when the bar is at a low height....... as soon as I grip at 12 I fall apart.......once in a while I can jump but flag out ,my speed and strenght are improving..............any food for thought???????????

Re: TRANSITION FRUSTRATION
Are you adjusting your step at all for your increased grip? It could be that you are too far under and either don't feel comfortable taking off so that is why you bail. Then when you DO take off you are under and can't cover the pole and you flag off like you said.
If you want to straight pole and have fun with that just buy a 13' 200 and call it done...

my step is on, plant is high........don't really bend it that much as I am on some stiff poles i'm on a green 13 foot sky pole 14.5 flex.......

i;m thinking that the stiff poles might be your problem. if you get on something small and start to blow through on it, you will know that you have good penitration and can then move to stiffer poles. I dont know if I fully understand what your question is, but just try some poles a little smaller.
good luck,

Moving the hands....
HAHAHA, Tape a ridge above the bottom hand so any movement would be noticed or made difficult.
