Iowa State Classic vs. Tyson Invitational

Unread postby EIUvltr » Fri Nov 10, 2006 3:43 pm

In years past most of the good vaulters in the nation had gone to the Tyson Invitational the weekend these two meets occur. However this year there are going to be a number of good vaulters at the ISU Classic (assuming some of last years athletes return) including Mitch Greely 5.36, Andre Poljanek 5.50, Jarno Kivioja 5.50, Jacop Pauli jumping unattached, and PVP's own Kyle Ellis (2004 JUCO national champ). I know Nebraska goes to both but usually sends their better vaulters to Tyson. I was wondering if any vaulters who would normally go to tyson this weekend are planning on going to the ISU classic instead in 2007.

Arkansas is the best indoor runway in the country. You will be on big sticks and should jump high. thats is one fast runway.

Arkansas is a better runway and probably won't have as many people jumping in one group.

And it's not as COLD in Arkansas. I know these are indoor meets, but we went to Iowa State once and the temperature never hit double digits and the lows were sub zero and I thought I was going to die just walking from the bus to the indoor track.

We’re (Clemson) going to Tyson this year. Last year we weren’t able to get into the meet so we went to Iowa State.

Ah yes, the forgotten IL vaulter, that school is insanely deep in the vault.
