Season Goals
Well, I figured since the college and high school kids are setting goals, why don't us Masters folks do the same!
2007 Indoor Season:
Gold at Boston Nationals in Men's 30-34
15'7 in a meet before Nationals
Improve Olympic and Power Lifts 20%
Keep right shoulder in one piece
Have a blast and not stress about performances!
I actually have height goals for each stride too, but not right in front of me...

I was thinking of starting this post so I am glad you did it Lonestar, good job.
My goals are;
Stay healthy, stay healthy, stay healthy.
I need to get my weight down below 160#.
Stay strong, flexible, gymnastically sound, get some of my speed back and get my technique as sound as possible.
Keep my consecutive years over 13' streak going, if successful it will be at 34 years straight over 13' or higher.
my biggest goal is to get over 14' once again, it has been a few years since I have jumped 14' and as I turn 52 this year I would love to get 14'
at least one more time in my life.

Good goals Dan! I think it's true for all us Master's folks that are number one goal should be to STAY HEALTHY!!! Injuries are what shut me down competitively a few years ago, and the time off has me feeling better, but I just can't rush right back in or I'll fall right back into being a cripple.

Well, one goal is to find a place to vault. My coach made a change this year and it may be difficult to vault with him now.
Physically I have to get stronger and faster. I was shocked this summer when I ran a 13.6 100m. I've been working hard on the strength part the last few months. As you guys know, the nagging injuries are always running interference.
Specific for Vaulting; I need to start planting the way I plant on the track. I don't know why my plant falls apart when I'm doing a real vault. This wasn't a problem for me in college.
I also need to improve on a problem that is an old friend. My lower arm collapses like crazy. It wasn't as big a problem back in the day because I held high, it was up above my head. Now, holding at 13'6 and it's right in my face.
I'd like to get firmly on 15 foot poles and over at least 14'6. I think if I can improve all the above enough to get on the fifteens, 14'6 will be easy.

OK, First of all I usually don't "publish" goals. I've found that for me that if I reach them I forget how much work it took to get there and end up with an "oh well" attitude towards it. On the other hand, when I don't reach a goal I get very down and dissapointed. Case in point, 2006 goals were 10 feet at Boston and 11 feet at Charlotte. Both of which I didn't get close to and because of which I really came away from this season with a "what the h*ll am I doing this for" attitude. That being said, I want to:
1. Finish the set up in the backyard complete with lights and rubber runway
2. Hit 10 feet by Minnesota indoors (early march)
3. do 11 + feet by Louisville and Orono
4. be able to get back to respectability vaultingwise before my legs get to a
point where they hurt me too much to do this anymore.
So much dor me not setting any goals....huh? Later..........Mike

goals
1. get my weight to 185 where My Dr. says I should be according to his BMI
2. get my speed up to compete in the 100 meters.
3. get my grip up beteen 12-13
4. get my plant high and take off foot on the money consistantly
5. get my approach to 90 feet this year.
6. keep injury free. first year was a learning experience for my body....pain may be temporary but when you are 60 life is real temporary:)
I'm tired already thinking about it...time for a nap

Dang, guys I'm inspired!
Just turned 61 so I'm trying to do run plant drills at least three times aweek.
I'm doing 20 minutes on a bike (at the gym) three times a week and doing drills at least once a week.
Trying to loose enough to get all of me going the same direction on the runway.
Develop enough speed to grip over 12'.
Oh and not impact my lifestyle significantly
