How wide to grip
I was just wondering how far apart your hands should be when holding the pole. I've heard from about making your arms a 90 degree angle to the length of your forearm. Thanks

A more narrow girp will get you inverted better....but you might not penetrate as well. I know you're supposed to push up, not in, but a wider grip, to an extent, does help you move poles. However, i generally go with whatever feels comfortable. My first jumps generally have a wider girp. If i'm moving poles well, then i'll narrow it up and get back on it better.

The grip is an adjustable part of the vault for sure. I generally grab my usual top hand grip, then lay my forearm along the pole and then put my bottom grip one handhold lower then were my elbow is. When I'm moving to a bigger pole, or having problems bending for whatever reason, I'll widen that grip to put a little more into the pole or to help build a little confidence. If I'm having trouble getting inverted then i'll narrow the grip a little to help with that aspect. So there are a few things that can be adjusted with the grip width. Keep that in mind.

This is how I was taught...reach your right arm up against you ear and put your left arm out at eyebrow level. Thats your grip. I always thought it was too big of a grip though, so now I just do shoulder width which works because I have broad shoulders. Any grip smaller than normal peoples shoulders not only looks weird and feels weird, but I don't do as well. Thats just my opinion though!
Hey is that a pole in your hand or are you just happy to see me?
