Traveling to the U.S.

i am from australia and i am thinking of comming to the states for a bit to vault next aths season and i was wondering if any one could tell me the comptition structure over there and maybe a good state to bass myself in...i am 18 now and will me 19 then...if that helps at all. eyah so if any one could help me out with that it would be awsome.

Are you interested in studying at a University? I would imagine that would be the easiest and cheapest way to get to the states. If you are good enough and eligible, you could get an athletic scholarship somewhere. You might have to pay part of the cost of your education, but you would have free coaching, equipment, and travel expenses to meets covered.

I would think it would be pretty difficult to get a visa otherwise, for an extended time like that.

There is an indoor season that is roughly January-March, an outdoor collegiate season from March-May, and summer meets from May-August. The indoor and outdoor meets are mostly college stuff, but many of them will allow non-collegiate athletes to enter if they are good enough. The summer meets just depend on where you are located.
