Come Into My Kitchen: One giant leap for baker man

Don Livasy shares his recipe for Layered Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie in his Kansas City, North home.
Although Don Livasy, 74 doesn’t pole vault and bake at the same time, he has found a project that combines his two hobbies. He’s creating Vault Man’s Special Recipes, a collection of his favorites.
Livasy hasn’t competed much lately because of injuries, but he’s jumping in the 8-foot-6 to 9-foot-6 range in practice. The binder where he keeps the recipes has a photo of him in a superhero-type costume. The recipes inside are in 14-point type, which allows him to read them comfortably despite the vision loss he suffers due to a genetic disorder.
Residence: Kansas City, North
Occupation: Retired educator
Special cooking interest: Baking breads and desserts
Why did you start your recipe collection? I started trying to get recipes that I wanted to make more than one time. My wife (Maria Livasy) types them for me.
Where did you get your cookbook title? I have had a lot of fun with my vaulting. The kids (where I practice) say, “Here comes Vault Man.â€Â

I have had the honor to meet and talk to Mr. Livasy at some of Todd Coopers camps in the Kansas City area. Mr Livasy is a very enjoyable person to sit and talk with. Not only is he an accomplished vaulter he is a very nice gentleman - I'm sure that his cooking skills are very well "honed". Mr Livasy if you are "on line" I would like to say "hello".
