To say the least, Maverick Miles has had a busy spring and summer.
And the 13-year-old Corriher-Lipe Middle School student is doing so with a couple very different athletic pursuits.
Miles is spending much of his summer participating in AAU baseball and track competitions at the national level.
As a seventh grader this past spring, Miles set a Corriher-Lipe baseball team record with a .493 batting average. He was recently picked up by the Greensboro Batting Center team for national AAU play.

Double the fun: South's Miles enjoys successful summer

Like a lot of kids in the area, Maverick Miles ended his summer and headed back to school on Friday.
But for Miles, his summer was not like that of many of his peers. Miles’ summer was another one filled with great athletic accomplishment.
Miles, who began his freshman year at South Rowan High on Friday, had a successful summer as both a track athlete and AAU baseball player.

Wow. I think that I jumped against Jimmy Miles in high school. If memory serves me correctly, in the NC Indoor meet (we only had one indoor meet in the Greensboro Coliseum back then) he was 2nd and I was 3rd (I think). I have some video of him jumping. I'd love to contact him and send him a copy of the video. Cool.
