Pole vaulters to compete in the street Saturday

Pole vaulting will be taken to the streets on Saturday morning.

Held in conjunction with the Blackberry Arts Festival in downtown Coos Bay, the first-annual Street Vault will feature more than 20 athletes from around the country. The event will start at 11 a.m. near the intersection of Fourth Street and Central Avenue.

Event organizer and Marshfield pole vault coach Stan Solomon was excited by the turnout.
