Does anyone know who the coach is for the University of Texas?

At any meet we (TX State) have ever jumped against them, Brian Elmore has been coaching mostly... There is some guy in UT gear that walks around a little, but Brian seems to do a majority of the coaching, especially for the girls side... But if you are looking for the best coach in the state of TEXAS, then look no further than San Marcos (20 miles south of Austin) and Texas State University... Kris Allison is by far the best coach I have ever dealt with and I myself have improved 2'7" on my personal PR... If that isnt good coaching, I dont know what is... Watch out!! Next year TX State is going to have four or five 17' guy vaulters and two or three 13' girls!

Plus, there is a river that runs through campus and it is pretty sweet to jump into after a long day of vaulting and/or training...

mario sategna is the men's team field event coach/ multi-event coach... he's also coincidently the NATIONAL ASSISTANT COACH OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all of his vaulters were over 5.05m and me and dk went 5.30 indoors and out respectively....

Who at Texas State is going to jump 17' next year? If ya'll are going to jump 17', get on some sticks longer than 14 feet and run.

Paul Turner, Dima Kabakov, Kevin Galbreath, Casey Cummings, and maybe one of the four other vaulters who jump 16'... And a majority of our guys jump on 15'6" poles, Kevin, the exception, jumps on 16' 185-190lbs... And I apologize that I can only jump as high as everyone else when I'm on a 14' pole and everyone else in the conference is on 16' sticks... Its called efficiency... Look it up... Any other questions will be answered at conference next year... Thanks for your interest...

Mario was not just the assistant coach of the year he was also the regional throws coach of the year. He was also a 17' high school vaulter and a dang good decathalete back in his prime. Mario is also an unselfish coach and person, he doesn't hesitate to share his knowledge and advice with this old pipe fitter/ volunteer coach. I appreciate the time this young man has volunteered to mentoring me. I would also like to point out Treydecca jumped 17 plus from 6 lefts during dec comps and Donavan is 4.90 plus always. So the answer to the question, who the vault coach at UT is, I would definitely say Mario Santegna.

Brian you dont give yourself enough credit... You have done great things with the pole vault at UT... Look at Ashley Laughlin, she had a huge year, and I never saw anyone coaching her besides you... Either way, I've seen some good results in the pole vault at UT this past year...

Blake- Why do you say that you jump as high as everyone else usng your 14' pole compared to their 16'? If you were jumping as high as everyone else than you would be over 17'. Just look at outdoor conference 3 guys over 17'. No TX St vaulter scored a point yet alone jump 16'.

15'6" on a 14' pole is great, if you want to be a 15'6" vaulter.

I think someone knows his stuff over at Texas if you see how Trey has progressed. I always thought he should be on a longer run, but with all that speed I can see why he is on a 6step, he can probably outrun most of us from a 5 step. But what happend to Donovan? He was jumping 5.20's easy in highschool, and I'm pretty sure his highschool PR is 5.30. Jumped 5.40 his freshman year at UT then his vault dropped off quite a bit. 5.30 is good, but I thought he was on track for a 5.50 by now, at least. Did he have a bad wreck or something? I don't get it.

You seem to have some aggression towards me for some reason... I dont really understand... I simply made a statement that TxState was ready for a big year next year... That is all... Why do you persist?? Maybe next year, when TxState vaulters start winning meets and putting up really high bars, you can look back and on this and say to yourself, "Wow... Maybe I spoke to soon..."

YEAH!! i thought this thread was about TEXAS!! not that other school, swt or something?? (jk)

dk is still a good vaulter, for those of you who saw him this year, i think he jumped 5.20 or better in every meet except ncaa's? 5.10? which is an improvement from his frosh and soph years where he was a consistant 4.90-5.0m guy with one big boom at 5.40i... now he's a 5.10-5.20m guy who can hit 5.30 more often... and that's what the dec is all about, getting your consistancy up to higher heights and farther distances. he's becoming a better dec. maybe not a better vaulter, but a more consistant one.
