I broke my favortie pole today
The weirdest break I've had. I had just left the ground and was finishing my take off and the pole snapped about 3.5 feet from the top. I hadn't even really swung or loaded the pole for that matter. In fact I was able to land on my feet Kind of still in the take off position well onto the mat, just got a little ding on my lead knee. obviously the pole had a flaw. but now I'm going to have to run from a longer run to get on anything else I have. One week before the 4th of July beach vault in Tacoma:(

Did it have a cork plug in the top?
I had a pole break clean like that, with a nice 3 foot section in my hands.
In the bottom part of the pole, at the break, was the cork (form the days when poles had corks instead of caps). I assume it had worked its way down and prevented the pole from ovaling as it bent.
I got out a corkscrew that afternoon and pulled every cork from every pole I owned.
