Can you name the vaulter?

Unread postby bvpv07 » Tue Jun 20, 2006 6:08 pm

If anyone gets Newsweek magazine...did you notice the Shell advertisement on the back page?

"Shell is constantly raising the bar." with a picture of a pole vaulter in yellow just going over a crossbar after releasing his pole.

I tried to find a picture on the web, but alas, the search was fruitless.

Anyone know who the vaulter is?

I don't know about the ad, but I just saw the commercial with Jeff Hartwig....I also noticed that he started out as a right handed vaulter, and later switched to a lefty when they shot him while inverting...and then back to righty again while finishing the jump.
Thank god for video editing!

I just saw the ad Sami, I am pretty sure it is Scott Slover.

I'll try and take a picture of it with my digital camera so you guys can see it.

Scott was the double they used for Jeff. He said they both had a blast with the commercial.

No he doesn't! He jumped a TON during the filming. You wouldn't believe how much vaulting they did over those two days. He said it was one of the hardest things he has ever done.

No joke. I've heard this from a variety of vaulters. The creative types that do the shooting have no idea how much it takes to do a vault. They would have the guys jump 100 times if they could.

It was probably Slover, though some people have told Hartwig they've seen a billboard with him on it.

If you can see the pole (I have no idea what the billboard looks like) and it is a Spirit it is Slover, carbon it is Hartwig.
