These are the videos from the Empire State qualifier meet in east syracuse minoa high school. It was a high of 94 that day, and i was there from 9 till 3 when i started jumping. I know there is a ton of things wrong with my form, but just in case im missing some things, feel free to rip it up!
Sorry for poor quality, we had some trouble moving the videos onto a file without a 160 by 116 file size.

I am 5'9, 145 Ibs. I jumped on a 14' 155 for 12'6
14' 160 pacer FX for all jumps until 14'.
At 14 i jumped on a 14'6 160 carbon, holding about 8 inches down.
My standards were buried for all jumps until the 14 when i put them at 55cm.

haha yea basically, i didnt think i was going to get over it, which is basically my main problem, so i kinda tucked and prepared to hit the bar, the next thing i know im like, standing on the bar with my shin on it.TheBigMastodon wrote:Did you hit it off with your knee on that last jump? What I see in your vault
I see that you have an excellent run with a lot of high knee drive. You also have a tall plant which set up a good lever on your top hand. I could see the jump off the ground that clearly but it seemed like you transition well into the pole. But what I didn't see is that you kept good pressure on the top hand to bring through the swing phase quick enought to line up with the pole at it release. In most cases your earlier vaults especially you traveling toward the bar without enough time to perform a budka (press the hips vertically) towards the top of the pole and above the bar. There are a number of factors that can contribute to this short coming. One would be core strength, one would be plant phase drive step or penualtimate step slows excessively and there are others. It seemed like you were progressing nicely, however. Those who were working with you were doing a good job as you did get a good jump where you did actually progress closer to the pole and get more vertical lift. I would say you need to take the bigger perspective and know that you are doing many things right and showing signs of progressing. You just need to preform them more consistently and get stronger at the drills that will bring you upper part of your vault around the more in line with the pole as you turn towards the bar.

Awesome, thanks, thats encouraging. So you say my swing is good, but the pole is basically throwing me before im all the way back, snug to the pole? This might be because im on a 14'6 160 holding at 13'10, so basically a 13'10 170, and im only 145 Ibs. I will work on timing the swing, and swinging as fast as i can. I wish i had better quality, but it also looks like my trail leg isnt straight coming all the way through, this is probably due to a lack of flexibility .

LOL i know, for some reason i was under the impression that if i get off the mat before it falls its a make, so i hustled. Kinda funny. Just a quick update, i had a meet yesterday with a headwind, and was able to hold at about 13'8 on a 14' 160 pacer FX. I made 13'6 with it, and then moved my standards back from 65 to 75, then 80. I hit it on the way up everytime, which is good news, because now im going to be getting on a 14'6 160 possibly 165 carbon. I have 1 more small meet before riverfest, ill let you know how it goes, but it all feels great and a ton of fun right now .AVC Coach wrote:Looking good! Nice run! Don't break your neck getting out of the pit if you hit the bar though. If it stays, it's a make, and if it falls it's a miss regardless of whether or not you got out of the pit before it falls.

All of them you don't get upside down as much as you could. That's why you end up getting shot out at the top instead of up. It's also why you ended up coming off early on the last 14' jump, you had the height easily but just flipped back over too quick and your foot hit it.
