All the speed in the world won't get you over 20'. The vault doesn't just end once you leave the ground.

how about Michael Johnson Asafa Powell Jeremy Wariner allen iverson? all about 6' and fast as heck. many of the top 400m guys would make great PVs. but my question is "if there was NOTHING but pving. i bet there at least 20 guys in the nfl who if they were trained from an early age (and that was all they did) could jump 6m. nba, nfl , pro soccer...fast tall guys. think of all the great athletes over the world who are just crazy good at what they do. anyway , 5 BILLION people and the ONLY sport is PVing? 22'!

Possibly..... but remember it takes a lot more than being fast and tall. You need body coordination, gymnast skills, tons of core strength (but the strength that you get without the weight is best). I believe if you look at all these aspects, Bubka would still rein on top. If there are 3 sports i would say you need to be good at to be a good pole vaulter it would be this.
1.) Sprinter on track and field
2.) Gymnast who didnt make the team because he/she was too tall
3.) A 3m spring board diver.

These skills give you strength, coordination, no fear, speed, ability to correct even the slightest part of your jump, and leg power.

Chuck Norris doesn't need a pole, he already has a 28' vertical jump.

What about Mia Hamm?? She is extremely quick, tall, and pretty strong! I bet she would be a pretty good vaulter! Do you?
