nothing really to make it safe...just as much as a normal meet because the chances are still the same ur gonna have someone fall off the pit....just make people sign a wavior or something like that
pain is only temporary victory is forever

You need a board runway, a rubber surface for it, a pit, standards, several crossbars, a way to measure the height and a way to transport them all to and from the meet.

Also: a fairly flat surface for the runway. Pieces of wood to shimmy the runway and make it level. Permission to use the area. Flagging to block off certain areas. You may need cones to block off streets.

To run off a good meet you need lots of volunteers to handle setting up and tearing down the pit, late registration, putting up the bar and adjusting standards, etc.

It makes for a much better meet if you have good speakers, a microphone, someone to announce what is going on and keep the crowd entertained and a good mix of music.

A USATF sanction is always a good idea.

There are a few off the top of my head.

it would be cool if you could find a street that dead ends into another street with the perpindicular curb. Then you could use the curb to plant the pole and ste the pit up on the grass that way it really would be street vaulting.
