i dont know what type of water vaulting you saw, but i've done it where someone stands on the edge of the pool and holds a pole in the water so that the end in on the pool floor (gotta fill the pole with water so it doesnt float). they hold it still while you go down in the water and grap the pole and kinda get yourself in the c position then swing up, invert, turn, and if you do it fast and agressive youll come out of the water a little. its fun, and it really helps me get the feel for rocking back and inverting, so go ahead and try it!
and what website did you see the underwater vaulting? id like to see that...

The video is online on this website at http://www.polevaultpower.com/media/video

You need a long PVC pipe to do it. Someone stands at the top and pushes down on it to make it bend.

You can also do this with a normal pole as a straight pole, thats how I learned!

I always hated getting down to the bottom and feeling your air supply start to run out so whenever I do those water drills I rent scuba gear, that way I can stay under longer and get a lot of reps in without worrying about the whole drowning part. scuba gear also adds a little bit of weight to you.
