My words may be meaningless or completley wrong, but its just my ideas.
I think if he let the arms come back more i.e. the left hand over his head not infront of him. the pole will bend and recoil later in the vault. This allows for a better position for the rest of the vault. It also seems like he has a rather wide grip. If he kept is trail leg long and whip it to the top he wont tuck it and lose energy, he will be able to do a "bubka" drop the shoulders and drive the hips faster transferring more energy in the pole which makes the pole recoil faster when it is necessary. If he does this, the vault will have more energy the whole time. He will land safely in the pit and clear 18'4. He does have a great vault though, small things done correctly will amount to great things or something like that.
But hey, im just in high school, it might not be correct.
