I think you have to look at this way. How would a first timer do at each one of those sports. Can someone for the first time drive a car 200 MPH? Sure, why not. Could someone get lucky and hit a straight 300 yard drive in golf? Maybe, but not likely. Could the average person come out and clear even a modest 15' feet or even have a chance at it? I don't even think kicking it off would happen the first time.

Whats up Brownie!

Hey Stark- is your pic your 5.90 jump at world championships? Or was it 5.94?

I think it was 5.94 but I'm not sure. I know it was a miss though.

I wish I could. Unfortunatley with work and training I don't have much time to help out at camps.

Thanks. If you come out to one of Jans CA camps I am out there all the time training.

Training is going great. I have jumped 18'2" so far. I am moving back to a long approach at Mt. Sac next weekend and hope to better that.

I was about 23-24 in those videos and I am 36 now.

In a nutshell here are the things I concentrate on the most during the season:

Plyometrics (1x week)
5 sets of 5 alternate leg bounds
5 sets of 5 single leg bounds
5 sets of 5 jump squats for distance
5 sets of 20 straight leg ankle hops in place

Short sprints(1-2x week)
3x flying 10m with 30m run up
3x flying 30m with 30m run up

Power lifts(2x week)
Squats, cleans, snatches

Lots of ab exercises (3x week)

Short run polevaulting (1x week)

Long run jumping (1x week)
depending if I am competing or not.

I try to jump at least 2 times per week and 3 if I am feeling good enough.
