I think (emphasis on the I) that for vaulting atleast a year or two, everyone should work on jumping over their grip. Everyone seems to be focused on. "If i move from a 13' to 14' pole, then maybe i can get 12'6." I know that it is a mean and kind of wide ranged statement, but i think that is what we should work on. For pete's sake, i haven't moved to a 14' pole yet, and i am working on.... 3 years of vaulting? We should all master the technique

Exactly, this is my 5th year of vaulting and i have moved down in length of poles. I had to use 14ft polls out of necesity in highschool because we didnt have access to much else. Aswell, like most vaulters, we dont have the money to fork over for our own poles. Then when i went to a club for my first time and got to use poles under 14' that could still hold my weight, did i get the chance to start practicing good technique in getting heights above the hand grip. What do you think is more of an acomplishment, a vaulter who vaults 16' on a 15'6 pole or one who does it with a 14'6 pole?
