to look at you
How to get the coach to look at you.....I get DVD's of vaulters all year long! It's more like marketing with background music, Dad's comments, whoops and hollers, actually pretty cool. They should go to the head coach. He/she will get them to the vault coach.

Walking On
It depends on how competetive the school is. That's not saying D1 or D2 or D3. University Wisonsin Lacrosse is a D2 school and they can beat half of the D1 schools out there. Female 9'6" vaulter, one year left of school...that should be good enough to walk on almost anywhere. But you have to bring a good attitude.

Lacrosse is a D3 school. We compete against them every year and they are amazing. Another great D3 school is North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
Lacrosse is a different type of school. Andrew Rock went there, and he is an Olympian. They have a lot of athletes that could compete in D1 but choose D3.

Big team. Top female goes 13+. Top guy goes 17+
So high is part of the equation - but potential; and desire to attend the school are big factors.
Texas State this fall:
9 girls led by former Texas record holder Britni Lawrence, pr 13'1.5
10 guys led by incoming freshman from Israel, Dmitry Kabakov, pr 17'0
19 total vaulters that I know of
Loads of potential with only 1 senior in this young group!

I am starting to look at colleges for the future. I have decided that I would really like to pole vault and (if possible) get money for it. Will college coaches look at the amount of improvement between years as well as my PR. My PR is 11' and the amount of improvement between last season and this season was 2'6".
