One of the posts has gotten onto the topic of title IX. So I figured I might as well start a new topic.
What does everyone think about it. What are some situations that it has been helpful and harmful to athletics.

Title IX was made in the the early 70's to combat the extreme biased against women's sports and other activities to any federally funded institution. Most attention is heeded to the sports aspect, in which schools were FORCED (or inticed by the fact they would lose money) equalize money for women's sports comparitivly to mens. This however, (arguably) is out dated and unfair to male atheletes, who lose money for scholarships to a woman's sport that is placed there to eqaulize the men/women budget. I.E. money or an entire program (mainly baseball, wrestling, and track and field) is taken away and given a woman's progam, that...may or may not be "competive." Meaning, they drop baseball to make way for women's crew. Also, there is a built in double standard that is unfair to males, such as women can play on a mens team if a program is dropped, but males cannot play on a women's team if their program is dropped. Overall, it needs to be tweaked a little, because the biased against womens sports has...this is an understatment, been greatly reduced.
