bvpv07, actually theres a lot more states that dont have competitive high school teams because of the high injury rate and insurance rates. Most of my gymnastics experiences have only been with private clubs too.

yea..a lot of the highschools in illinois dont have teams..idk y tho..but they just dont. we werent gonna have one next year cuz our referendum didnt pass..but they brought back gymnastics..so i was happy. lol

beamqueen...well..my best score on vault was a 9.65(with a pike tsuk) on bars it was a 9.6(level 8) beam was a 9.45(level 8) and floor was a 9.6(level 8) on floor i coulda had a 9.8 but i fell on my double full and my hair went out of bounds..grrr..

on vault i almost have a layout tsuk..on bars i think my best trick is either a double back dismount or a front giant to a half pirouette(im not too good at bars..lol) on beam my best trick is my roundolf double full dismount..and on floor its prolly a double full(backwards) wut r ur best scores and skills??

wow, youre amazing! i suck at bars so my best skill is a shoot through to handstand. on beam i compete a puch front, aerial, and a roundoff full dismount. on vault i compete a hand front which scores allright. i havent exactly mastered it yet. floor is my best event and i compete a roundoff backhand layout 1 1/2 to punch front and a handspring layout full. beam i consistently score around 9.5, bars sucks so i only score around a 9.0, vault is usually around a 9.4, and floor is usually around a 9.7.

Ya my school district is trying to get rid of gymnastics so i am only garunteed gymnastics through my junior year (next winter season). After that though, we probably wont have gymnastics anymore so im screwed. we werent even supposed to have gymnastics this year but we hosted the state meet so we got to keep it. otherwise, it sucks not knowing whether you have another season

I seriously loved this pass when I was doing gym. It's the greatest feeling when you hit the landing of the 1 1/2 just right and you go hecka high on the front. Before I quit, I was doing the same pass except for with a full twisting front. It was awesome, but then again, I was a tumbling freak :P

Gymnastics & Pole Vaulting

Unread postby Vaulting prof » Fri Jun 03, 2005 7:57 pm

In contrast to mikepv's joke about 35 years of gymnastics as a 21 year old--I have been doing gymnastics for over 40 years. Competition in
college then as a regular part of my workouts since.
It's been the key to being in shape to return to pole vaulting after
taking 39 years off. The basic balance and movement as well as
upperbody strength are an excellent foundation for vaulting.
After being back to vaulting for just one year, I'm heading to
Pittsburg next week to represent Michigan in the National Senior
Games (males 60-64 )

yea..i luv 1 1/2 punch fronts too..but i have bad luck wit them. at our conference this year i over rotated the 1 1/2 and landed on my head..i got a grade three concusion. its was soo scary...plus a lil while after my doc told me that if i hadnt hit my feet and hands(and just hit my head) i would have died..i was sooooo freaked out by that. but i have done it since..and i still love it..nothing will stop me..haha ;)

Yes I could definitely tumble all day! If I had the choice, i would just be a floor and beam specialist but we dont have enough girls on the team for that.

In response to mikepv1....Paul Burgess was a full time Gymnast from the age of 7 to 14.....he was ranked in top 2 in Australia for the majority of that time (for his age)...........
