Ok, So I'm getting inverting down...
now that my problem is that I try to turn...and I just end up spinning aroun (kinda hard to describe; at my last meet it was just weird).
My coach kinda noted that after I get inverted, my feet don't come down, so I've got a tendacy to fall on my head (I stiff pole), when at like 9'. That and apparently my left arm goes to the wrong side because I end up bringin the pole to my armpit instead of havin my elbow go in the inside - would that be why I can't turn, becaause of my arm?
Meh, I can't believe I forgot to bring my camera again to my meet today...

I've got a girl who's vaulting almost exactly like you. She's a 10th grader, a 12.8 100 m sprinter and a Level 9 (I think) gymnast. Today she PR'd at 9'6" but did it with almost no bend in the pole (left arm on the outside...pole hitting chest & body) and no turn!
I keep thinking to myself, like, OMG how high is she going to jump once she really starts bending the pole properly (some left arm resistence) and once she starts turning at the top of her jump. 10'6? 11'0? 11'6"?
I'll tell you what I've told her. Remain patient, and focus on one aspect of the vault at a time. In one practice focus on bottom arm pressure. In another practice focus on turning. You'll get these things eventually if you persist.

Need Help Before Regionals!
So this is my first year vaulting, i started about a month and a half ago, but so far the weather has not been nice at all and i haven't gotten alot of good practices in. I haven't been gettin very high, my coach says i need to get pole bend and a quick turn, i get my feet up pretty high but i have trouble finishing the rest. I got a PR today, but i know i got alot of work to do. Any suggestions would be great, cuz i got regionals real soon, thanks!!

I need to rename this thread to Ming's problems when vaulting...
Alrite, so starting Monday my coach is gonna work on getting my arms straight when planting, instead of my left arm collapsing as soon as it hits. That in part should also help the fact that I keep moving farther back on the pole, so I'm at a point where I freak out and can't even jumt/plant from my mark...except for a couple times when I got extremely pissed and uh, just kinda did it like I was vaulting in a meet. (That made no sense at all). I was always inside because I got used to expacting to be farther in than I should be so I always strided out the last step so I'd slide down the pole...now if only I could stop my hands from gettin ripped up.
But I guess I'll stick to focusing on one thing in practice each day.
Too bad that the East Coast has such bad weather...cold, rainy...and the seasons almost over...next time I'll be able to vault after this is during the indoor season...which I can't practice in a pit until my first meet.
O well, thanks for the help.

The only thing good about that company that exploits workers in many third world countries so its executives can make millions is its catchphrase "Just do it". Instead of worrying about all the bits and pieces, set the bar at 4 feet and take 6 jumps over it from six steps. move the bar to 5 and do the same thing making sure you land on your back after turning over the bar - repeat this several thousand times -just kidding -but lots! moving the bar up every three or six jumps until you can just get your feet over it -a soft bar obviously.
