I agree with achtung, you have to jump through the pole, not around it, that is probably why you get the helicopter action on the top of your jump... DJ is absolutely right about your plant, the pole seems to be fine right now, but you need to have a higher plant and continue to push your hands up through the vault, especially your bottom hand which seems to pull a bit off the ground... also, when you start your swing, you have to lock your trail leg or you will lose momentum that you have generated from your run... if you can correct these things than there is no reason you cannot go 10' or even 11'
4.75... Write THAT down...

defenitely raise your grip. your tall enough to roll a pole over with a higher grip safely.
DJ SAID IT PERFECTLY!
one thing i havent seen mentioned yet though..
STOP STARING AT THE BAR!!!!!!!!! its a bad habit and many of us do it, but if you do that you jump the bar, we must JUMP THE JUMP
" to hit a baseball what do you have to do?- look at it (keep your eye on it)
to hit a golfball what do you have to do? - look at it (keep your eye on it)
to HIT a crossbar what do you have to do?".........................
to quote Bubba Sparks....thanks bubba!

Are you seriously almost 7' tall?!?
...and only weight 134?!
sorry, im 5'11". At practice today I moved all the way to the top of the pole. After a little trouble getting my step down, I finally vaulted straight and i also looked at my top hand. It felt so good. It was a short practice though so that was my only good vault for the day. I just have to remember to look at my top hand and not at the bar.

A stiffer pole and a higher grip will give you higher jumps

I was not saying it was under your weight?

The pole is too light for you
You should be on much stiffer poles!!!

I would like to add
JTred wrote:Oh ok. Sorry. Yeah My coach is ordering a 13' 140 and we have a 145. I'll also get to experiment at camp this summer.
That a more powerful pole will give you more pop and the vault will change for you. Looking for push off over your handgrip is what you should strive for and one way is a stiffer shorter pole. then as you get the timing and the push down you can move up poles with more length, grip, and power to jump higher.
