I used to not get enough penetration. you prolly have a different problem than mine was, but my problem was that I did a High-jump instead of a Long-jump. for that I just tried long jumping insead. also, try holding a bit lower and just concentrate on getting penetration.

I had developed that problem recently and have just now figured it out, but MAN does that make a HUGE difference, or at least for me it did..

Could be a lot of things...you could be holding too high, on too big of a pole, slowing down at takeoff, leaning back at takeoff, not jumping at takeoff, not having your arms all the way up, or any combo of the above. Incidentally, I wrote in with the same question a couple years ago after spending weeks not penetrating, and it ended up that the only problem was that our pit was set up too close to the back of the box and my pole would start bending and then hit the pit! I felt stupid...

try:

a) holding lower
b) quicken the last 2 steps
c) plant early
d) drive with the knee
e) go back a step
f) go down a pole
g) hands up early
h) straighten left/right arm
i) it could be mental... sometimes

also, be AGGRESSIVE at the take off. Personally, everytime I don't get deep enough into a pit with a new pole, I want to "break" the pole...
