does it throw you back on the runway?

thats what it sounds like. i think you need to lower your grip, and work on your take off. lowering your grip will allow you to move into the pit better. you might not be gettting high enough at take off. this could cause the pole to bend and through you back.

but either way i think you should lower your grip and work on your approach and take off. good luck

It sounds to like you are not driving into the pole hard enough. If you feel like you are hitting it good then you probably should lower your grip back down a bit and see how it feels there.

Lower your grip until the pole rolls over and you land safely in the pit.
you are probably holding to high.

or you are not tall and jumping off the ground at take off.
If you come in to low the pole will bend allot and recoil you back unless you are super fast.

You should try leaving the standards all the way back and working on getting deep into the pit on your landing before you raise your grip up too much. This will make you hit the pole hard everytime and also get you used to getting off the ground as highflyer said.

well ur still stutter stepping, arent u? that would slow ur speed and not get u into the pit very well.
