that is usually how it goes, no matter where you are. for some reason, track just doesn't draw that much media attention. :(   but hopefully if we all continue to do so well, that will change!

Part of the problem is that the newspaper does not know about the track meets. You and your coaches need to be proactive and get them the results (possibly even pointing out the more newsworthy performances) so that they know what is going on. If there is a particulary big meet coming up, like districts, let them know in advance and clue them in as to when the big events are happening, incase they can't send a reporter/photographer out all day, at least then they can get some coverage. You probably won't get much in for smaller meets, but you might be able to garner an article or two for the bigger ones (it depends on the size of the paper).

Flying Owl? So I'm assuming you got to Rice. Do you work with Coach Butler? He's a real expert when it comes to Russian technique!

Yes, I vault at Rice with Coach Butler. He is an amazing sorce of knowledge when it come to the vault, and he is always trying to learn more, this summer he is going to europe (greece i believe) to study and learn more with some of the european coaches. He truely believes in what people have been calling russian technique, the petrov model is what most of what we do is based off of, jumping and training alike.
