Question about p/v mats

I was wondering if anyone has found a "slick" solution to keep the pole vault mats from moving around after jumping on them for a few weeks ? It is a "small" problem but it is a hassle to get them "scooted" back into place with out a small army. Any solutions ????

If you're vaulting in a private setting (like in a barn) and the mats are on a "soft" surface, try framing them in with 2 x 4's just like you frame up a sidewalk. With the 2 x 4"s (hard and unyielding surface) being right next to the bottom of the mats it would be very unlikely a vaulter would hit them. But you could cover them if you wish. I would think the height of a 2 x 4 would be enough to stop the "walking" of the mat as it is landed on multiple times, but I have'nt tried it. Good luck!

if you are on a harder surface like concrete, i recomend placing tires b/w the pit and the ground. thats what we used at my highschool, and we never had problems.

One method is to use tent spikes hooked through each pit handle.
provided you are on grass or dirt.

or short pieces or rebar bent in a u shape and hammer into ground through handles.
