go somewhere where you get along with the majority of the people, make sure you get along with the type of people on that campus, and just where you think you will have the best time, vaulting is vaulting, there are different schools for different people, if you are determined enough, you cant vault high at any school, but thats up to you, what is also up to you is the environment, choose wisely, it is now starting to get freakin freezing here in CT , and boy do i wish i went down south or out west for school, but hey im lovin it here and gettin much better at jumping so good luck

After transferring from Syracuse, think about the climate.
In the 9 months that I spent in Syracuse it snowed probably 60% of those days.
We got more snow that most girls females can vault over. (153")
It was miserable, making the experience that much worse.
Thank god for VT.

Well, I guess Blacksburg was a welcome relief...coming from Syracuse anyway....Anywhere else people would look at you crazy, wondering how you could possibly have LESS snow in Blacksburg?! Although, even when its not snowing it gets deathly cold in the wintertime in Blacksburg...makes you appreciate that wonderful indoor track at VaTech.

Let's assume that you find a group of schools all with equally amazing academic and vaulting programs- how would you choose which school to go to?
ponder that...

Hmmm! We vaulted yesterday - 64 degrees no wind! We are preparing to go inside in the next week. It's been too nice up to now!

I 'd like to add my emphasis to the climate thing...don't think you are being crazy or wimpy thinking about weather! I went to HS in California and then went to Colorado for college. Probably half of my meets were miserable. When it's like 30 degrees and snowing/windy/hailing/etc. there's no hope to PR; it all becomes more about survival, meaning that all you can do is try to be the toughest vaulter out there to just get the points for your team and the experience dealing with hard conditions. I would always start PRing at the end of the outdoor season (when it started to get warmer), so I never felt like I was able to finish my seasons as high as I should have. To make things worse, it always rained when I went to should-have-been-warm places like Mt. SAC. What's the deal with that?
OK, that being said, of course some of the other things people have mentioned already are more important. What made my college experience so good was how well I got along with my coach and my teammates. So it was worth the freezing in the end!
