does anyone have and specific drills to gain strength and help technique. i know basics like bubkas pull ups different things like that but i am trying to put together a workout schedual for the rest of the summer and fall. any help is appreciated. thanks

Core and trunk strength is huge. I am coming back from two fractures in my lowest vertebrae and I have been doing core strength rehab hardcore three days a week for months on end. Stuff like stabilization and strength while balancing on a ball with ankle weights and wrist weights and stuff. Anyway, I have been coming back slowly vaulting and my strength in my midsection is through the roof. I was demonstrating bubkas the other day at camp when i realized i had done about 10 dropping down to my toes without even breaking a sweat.
you should think about core strength. Its what connects your arms and your legs, so its crucial.

med ball workouts are pretty good, esp those exercises the engage more then one muscle group. plyometrics are awesome too. i have a great book illustrating numerous workouts and they make you sweat pretty hard. they incorporate your own body weight, balance, strength training and speed and explosiveness. if you are interested i could give you the name of the book i have..let me know... :)

about ankle and wrist weights...would it be beneficial to use them during running drills?

Everything I have heard about the use ankle weights is that they cause injury to the knees, especially when used for running. Instead, I would go with a weighted short or weighted vest. They are kind of expensive to buy but you get similar benefits without the risk of injury.
