How do you figure this?

Unread postby PvaultinGirl » Tue Nov 19, 2002 6:35 pm

ok, this is a dumb question but in what exactly do they measure college and professional pole vault heights in? ( i hope i worded that so someone understands it!). hmmm....i mean like they obviously don't measure it in feet and what i really want to know is how can you tell what a height is (when you see it on paper) and it's not measured in feet? if someone could plz tell me what unit it's measured in, it would help me out a lot. AND if someone could tell me how many feet to that unit there are, then i would really get it. yes, it's a dumb question but i really want to know. :P i hope someone out there can figure out what i mean...i (obviously) just don't know how else to word this. :confused:

Metric vs Standard for Standards

Unread postby jmayesvaultmom » Tue Nov 19, 2002 7:47 pm

If you are going to get into that, you should also know what to set your standards on depending upon how they are doing the meet. Again I will defer to you Brian on the numbers for setting your standards metric vs "american"...so to speak :P
That's Jodie!!

A scripture that makes me think of all you girls and guys pole vaulting....

Habakkuk 3:19
The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.

naaww! i don't need ne thing else really. i just wanted to know because i am sick of seeing results for elite college vaulters and for international meets in the english metric system. i had no clue how high any of those heights were because they were not written in feet and it's not like they teach us the english metric system here. my standards are low...as low as they can get in va.! but it dosn't matter :)
