Pole Vault Etiquette...

Unread postby dallasvaultclub » Sun Jan 03, 2016 11:17 pm

Just a note on coaching at a meet.....
Every coach wants to see his athlete's takeoff when they jump and I am one of those coaches.... That being said... When your vaulter finishes their jump please do not make your corrections or comments at the pit in front of the next jumpers's takeoff mark. Simply move away from the takeoff area to do your coaching. Of course, you are focused on your vaulter.... BUT another coach is wanting to coach their vaulter and trying to catch their step....Wondering... has this ever happened to you... probably 20 times at Belton this weekend for me...

I agree 99%, with the 1% allowed to give a vaulter 15 seconds to check their step.

Not _everyone_ wants to see the takeoff... when I coach I want to see the mid mark. But I agree with the sentiment of the post, get out of the way to do the post-jump coaching! :)
