????? (Perhaps someone could post at least a picture of Lee McKane)
For the record it is McKane Lee... everyone gets it mixed up. That's what he gets for having a last name for a first name
Here is a picture from State but he probably does not like it since he missed the bar
This one is from the WA/OR meet and he probably likes it better. I love the background, the NW is soo pretty

after looking at the pictures of all these vaulters I find that they all have one or two things in common. There all fairly tall and they all look like beasts. All I can say is, go Ray Scotton, he went 16'10 last year and he's under 6 foot. Represent it for the little guys. Does anyone know where ray is going to school this year?
Just fly high, and KISS THE SKY!!!

THE POLE VAULT is loaded. Three women over 13', seven kids over 12-0! Isn't this great? I remember when the event was introduced to the women seeing track and field sages shaking their heads at the very idea of girls pole vaulting. "No upper body strength…not enough speed…too complex an event…" were some of the tired refrains. Now, it's another story. A Russian woman just cleared 15-06.75 for a new world record! SAMANTHA SHEPARD is consistently over 13' as is teammate MOLLY LEDERMAN. Both will compete in Maryland. RACHEL VIAU flies in from California to try and improve upon her 12-6 best. STACIE MANUEL can win it all if she has a good day. One of the best names in the meet, STEVIE MARSHALEK is a 12' footer and peaking. (Phone rings, interrupting my train of thought. It's ASHLEE WILDHABER from Washington State.) "I'm coming to your meet." Hooray! She's over at 12-3. This will be a good one. LATE NEWS! JENNY GREEN convinced Nebraska to grant her a waiver and she'll be heading to Nike. Green's gone 12-9. All the best are at Nike.

Jodie Mayes news article
Here’s a link to a newspaper article pertaining to Jodie Mayes that is a bit difficult to work with.
You have to go to the very bottom of the PDF for a picture and a small part of an article, then page a little ways up for the remainder of the article.
It’s probably easier just to post the article although it doesn’t contain the picture:
Fayetteville's Mayes hoping to represent U.S. in 2003 IAAF
BY CHRIS BAHN Northwest Arkansas Times
Though the 2003 IAAF World Youth Track and Field Championships are
nearly a year away, coaches from the United States have a pretty
good idea of who they want on their team.
Fayetteville's Jodie Mayes is on their short list.
The record-setting pole vaulter is one of four 16-and-under pole
vaulters in the nation being considered for a spot on the USA Track
& Field Junior Olympic team.
Should the 15-year-old Mayes progress as quickly as she has in her
first 18 months of competition, securing one of two spots for the
July 9-13, 2003 competition in Sherbrooke, Canada, is not out of the
question.
Since picking up the sport as an alternative to gymnastics less than
two years ago, Mayes already has three national records to her
credit and looks to be closing in on others.
Improvement must now come on an even greater level for Mayes.
Athletes will be monitored by USATF coaches for the next 10 months
with the selection process ending in April 2003. During that time a
list of recommended indoor and outdoor meets for athletes to
participate in will be made.
