Renaud Lavillinie has old school consistency working for him, and lately he's been consistent at 5.90 +. You might beat him if you jump that 1st attempt and any of the Germans could do that, and force Lavillinie to jump higher to beat them. He is certainly capable and it would be great to see it.
5.85 is 3rd place.
If I am Brad and I want a Medal I pass in such a way to be jumping at 5.85 and hope to clear it. He's certainly capable and it could happen.

Re: World Championships - Men's Pole Vault
I"ll try that tomorrow for the Womens.
Great Competition, Holzdeppe was really sharp, he deserved the win. They didn't show many misses on Eurosport so I don't know the nature of Lavillinie's misses, but he had good height on his clearances. He was good but not as good as Holzdeppe today.
Brad was certainly in the hunt and finished 4th. Great Job! Germans did well at 1, 3 and 5 that's a great performance for all.
Congrats to World Champion Holzdeppe!
