BAR PEG RULE
Just like a month ago, I saw lavillenie clear 4.06 but since the bar landed on top of the standard peg he didn't get it. I thought to myself wow that must be so unlikely to ever happen. Guess what, today I would have PRd at 4.25m and the same thing happened, 10 seconds of joy, and then just complete frustration with this rule. Plus I pulled my hamstring on that last jump... Why is such a rule enforced?!

The event has to have some consistency. The rule states the bar must land back at its original resting place. It may sound dumb because you would think, well what is wrong with it landing higher? Well what it if it landed lower?
Theoretically a vaulter jumping and hitting a cross bar that lands one peg lower or one peg higher both just hit the cross bar. Just because one's landed higher does not mean he jumped any higher, just his bounce got lucky and caught onto the higher peg.
