So I was wonder how do you prefer to wrap a pole either top to bottom or bottom to top which is better or is it all about personal preference just wondering if there are any major difference

If you wrap top to bottom, the layers will roll up and it is a mess-
tape from bottom to top...
you will be happy you did

Sometimes the high school vault officials will check and disqualify poles that are wrapped top-to-bottom in Florida. I used to do that only for my rainy day grip. When the pole got wet, I would wrap top-to-bottom, then drag my hand down the pole a couple of times to roll the tape down and make sizable ridges to hold on to. The right way is to wrap bottom-to-top.

If you go top to bottom, the tape always ends up getting big ridges in it eventually which is illegal for HS.
