I thought this was important to post because it shows that this was not a fluke. The four of these were all in the same competition. This athlete was relatively new to the sport and had been vaulting for about 8 months at the time. I think this illustrates the point that the a pre-jump is not a particularly complex or advanced skill. Getting these athletes to jump off the ground before the pole hit the back of the box was done simply by asking them to, over and over again. Anyone who thinks athletes may die if they do this, I assure you, none of mine have.
